We Can No Longer Be

My misery kept you happy.
I shed the misery.
You need it back.
So we can no longer be.

My weight kept you thin.
I shed the weight.
You need it back.
So we can no longer be.

My self-hate kept you in self-love.
I shed the self-hate.
You need it back.
So we can no longer be.

My doubts kept you confident.
I shed the doubt.
You need it back.
So we can no longer be.

My weaknesses kept you strong.
I shed the weakness.
You need it back.
So we can no longer be.

My past kept you ahead.
I shed that past.
You need it back.
So we can no longer be.

We can no longer be.

fear not, weep not

Sometimes I run across a quote I really like. And sometimes I feel the need to put it in a layout. Yep, it happens.

More Train Stuff

My boss and his wife have me on a big Lucinda Williams kick. If you don't know her music, go check it out. It's good. Really good. And the lyrics - wow.

This is the line that kept tripping me up this morning - from "Can't Let Go."

And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over, I know it, but I can't let go.

For reasons that don't much matter, I love those two lines. I'm not sure what my infatuation with train metaphors has been this past year, but they seem to be EVERYWHERE.

Speaking of trains, anyone want to do a cross-country train trip with me and Dirty D?!? It'll be FUN!!!!

Handwritten Haikus

I'm going to start a new series on this blog of handwritten (and illustrated) haikus. My insomnia makes me do funny things. Anyway, prepare yourselves because this is going to be randomly awesome.

To Whom It May Concern

During my iTunes binge this morning, I ran across The Civil Wars. If you're into singer/songwriters, then check this duo out - chill vibe, excellent lyrics and very distinct vocals. ANYWAY, I have two favorite tracks right now, but I'll go with the lesser known one here. It's called "To Whom It May Concern" and it's beautiful.

Why are you so far from me?
In my arms is where you ought to be
How long will you make me wait?
I don't know how much more I can take
I missed you
But I haven't met you
Oh how I want to
How I do
Slowly counting down the days
Till I finally know your name
Ooo the way your hand feels round my waist
The way you laugh
The way your kisses taste
I missed you
But I haven't met you
Oh how I want to
How I do, How I do
I missed you
But I haven't met you
Oh how I missed you
I haven't met you
Oh but I want to
Oh how I want to
Dear whoever you might be
I'm still waiting patiently.

Buy the song or the entire album. Woohoo.

Lyrics of the Day

What Do You Want by Jerrod Niemann

I get so tired of living like this.
I don't have the time, neither do my friends,
To stay up at night, to pull me through,
And to find the things to keep my mind off of you.

So, now tell me, what do you want? What do you want? What do you want from me?

And I have lots of projects in the work, both writings and paintings, so stay tuned here for awesomeness. Yaay.

Lyrics: I Won't Let Go

On a country kick today and am loving this Rascal Flatts song from their new album "Nothing Like This" so thought I'd share. Enjoy.

I Won't Let Go

It's like a storm
That cuts a path
It's breaks your will
It feels like that

You think you're lost
But you're not lost on your own
You're not alone

I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you've done all you can do
And you can't cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won't let go

It hurts my heart
To see you cry
I know it's dark
This part of life
Oh, it finds us all
And we're too small
To stop the rain
Oh, but when it rains

I will stand by you
I will help you through

When you've done all you can do
And you can't cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won't let you fall

Don't be afraid to fall
I'm right here to catch you
I won't let you down
It won't get you down
You're gonna make it
Yeah, I know you can make it

'Cause I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you've done all you can do
And you can't cope
And I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won't let go
Oh I'm gonna hold you
And I won't let go
Won't let you go
No I won't

Lyrics: God Rest My Soul

Listening to some music online today and heard this song, which I now love. It's soothing and the lyrics are damn near perfect. It's Dawes, "God Rest My Soul."
Take a last look around
Take the fall that is due.
And take your time,
and I'll take mine.
It's the last thing that's left for us to do
You have tried to define romance,
And all the things that it is not
Your time became some old man's cane
While he dances to a song that he forgot.
Oh, you can't throw something out there without watching it fall.
Only thing that's scarier than dying is not dying at all.
So when I have lost all my control
God will rest my soul.
I guess your mind can leave your heart.
I guess that's what you're doing now.
But it doesn't make us friends
Or better men
It is not something that love would allow.
Oh you can't throw something out there without watching it fall,
Only thing that's scarier than dying is not dying at all.
So when I have lost all my control
God will rest my soul.
And just like how I'll drink myself through my seventh relapse,
Like a captain of his sinking ship clutches to his maps.
What the figure on the cross thinks with his one final gasp-
This too shall pass.
Oh you can't throw something out there without watching it fall,
Only thing that's scarier than dying is not dying at all.
So when I have lost all my control
God will rest my soul.
